When you need to bring a dish to pass to a party and are in a bind, try this quick and easy recipe for Apple Cinnamon Rolls. To save frustration, this recipe uses items that you may already have in your refrigerator and pantry.
Ingredients
- 2 2 packages (8 oz. each) Crescent Rolls (Refrigerated)
- 1 cup Water
- 4 cups Harvester Farms Fuji Apple Slices
- 3 tablespoons Butter (Room temperature)
- 1 tablespoon Cinnamon
- 1/2 cup Brown Sugar (Lightly packed)
Directions
Step 1
|
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Grease a small rectangular baking dish with pan spray. Set aside. |
Step 2
|
Heat the water in a medium pot over high heat until simmering. Add the Harvester Farms Apple Slices and turn off the heat. Let apples sit until all moisture is absorbed, about 3 minutes or so, occasionally stirring. Set aside.
Step 3
|
Open one can of crescent rolls at a time (you will be making two rolls). Spread one of the cans of crescent dough into a flat layer on a clean work surface. Pinch together all seams to make it look like one large rectangular sheet of dough. Spread approximately 1 ½ Tablespoons of butter onto the dough, making sure to cover all the way to the edges.
Step 4
|
Lightly sprinkle dough with about ½ Tablespoon of cinnamon, or enough to lightly coat the surface. Top with half of the warmed apples, making sure to spread them evenly and in one layer. Sprinkle ¼ cup of lightly packed brown sugar on top of the apples, making sure to cover right to the edges. Reserve all of the leftover ingredients for the next roll.
Step 5
|
Roll up the dough starting with the short side. Try to keep edges even while rolling and try to keep dough fairly tight.
Step 6
|
Once fully rolled, lightly mark with a knife where you will be cutting. You will need 6 slices out of that roll. Slice with a sharp knife and place spiral side up into the prepared baking dish.
| |
Step 7
|
Repeat the dough process for the second package of crescent dough. |
Step 8
|
Once all 12 rolls are in the baking dish, bake for approximately 18-20 minutes or until the rolls are golden in color and the dough is fully cooked. Remove from heat and serve.
Icing
|
Step 9
|
If desired, serve the rolls with icing. Simply mix 1 ¼ cups of powdered sugar with ½ teaspoon vanilla, 2 Tablespoons of butter, a pinch of salt, and a splash of water (about 1 Tablespoon). Mix thoroughly with a hand mixer or for about 1-2 minutes or until the butter is fully incorporated. If the icing is too thick, thin with more water. |
