Time for cider and donuts! Nothing beats a freshly made donut with the flavors of apple-cinnamon. This recipe is easy to make and when paired with a tall glass of fresh cider, brings back great memories of the fall season.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Flour
  • 1/2 cup Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 tablespoon Baking Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla
  • 4 tablespoons Butter, melted
  • 3/4 cups Milk
  • 1 Egg, beaten
  • 3 bags Brothers-All-Natural Apple Fruit Crisps
  • oz Oil, for frying
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Cinnamon

Directions

Step 1
In a large bowl, mix together the flour, ½ cup sugar, salt, baking powder, and ½ tsp. cinnamon. Mix well. Slightly break up the Brothers-All-Natural Apple Fruit Crisps in their bags and add to the mix. Add the vanilla, melted butter, milk, and beaten egg. Mix until flour is fully incorporated. Do not over-mix.
Step 2
Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
Step 3
Mix the 1 cup of sugar and 2 tsp. cinnamon in a bowl and set aside.
Step 4
Remove the dough from the refrigerator and roll out onto a floured surface. Dough should be about ½-inch thick. Using circle shaped cutters, cut circles out of the dough. Using a smaller cutter, cut out the centers of the donuts. Re-roll dough and repeat process for any remaining dough.

Step 5
Heat a pot of oil to 350 degrees F. Use a thermometer to keep track of the temperature to avoid burning. Fry the donuts on one side for about 2-3 minutes or until golden (you may also fry the donut holes). Carefully flip with a slotted fryer spatula and cook an additional 1-2 minutes or until golden. Remove from oil, drain briefly on paper towels then dip in the prepared cinnamon-sugar mixture. Serve.
